Visit Goathland Website was founded to showcase Goathland and surrounding beautiful North York Moors and Coastal areas. Essentially, an independent Travel Guide to assist Visitors to the area. 

Nestled in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, and famous for its role as Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films, Goathland village is a haven for railway enthusiasts with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway offering scenic steam train rides. 

Explore the Mallyan Spout Waterfall, visit the quaint Goathland Tea Rooms, or wander through the village’s main street lined with stone cottages. 

With its peaceful countryside, fascinating heritage, and proximity to Whitby, Goathland is an idyllic escape for nature lovers, holidaymakers and artists alike.

Goathland Things to Do

Goathland is located half way between Whitby and Pickering and close to many other country villages. So plenty to do. The village itself is great for a walk around and a spot of cream tea. Mayllan Spout waterfall is well worth a visit and so is a walk to Beckhole or the Goathland Station. Dalby Forest and Go Ape near Thornton le Dale is also not far away for a bit of adrenaline fun! English Heritage also has lots of sites to see with a short drive from Goathland.

Getting around

Goathland Travel

Goathland is tucked away in a beautiful corner of the North York Moors, North Yorkshire, UK. Although it is ‘off the beaten path,’ It is very easy to get to.

By road within the UK, you have the 840 Leeds to Whitby Bus route, Tour buses, and local taxis. The nearest Train Station to the south is Malton (Connecting with York).

When travelling from overseas, the nearest airports are Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, and Manchester. These are approximately 2 – 2.5 hours away from Goathland.

If travelling by Car, we recommend the P&O Ferry from Rotterdam Europort to Hull.
